Getting a Guy to Notice You
This technique for meeting someone new is for shy, patient people who don’t want to put themselves in a situation where they can be publically embarrassed.
Maybe you’ve seen this guy a few times and would like to let him know you are interested in getting to know him better. Sure, you can just approach him and say, “Hi, my name is….. I’ve always wanted to meet you.” But, not many people are comfortable with doing something like that. This technique is for shy, patient people who don’t want to put themselves in a situation where they can be publically embarrassed. Done correctly, no one will know what you’re doing – not even the guy! That eliminates the risk of being humiliated.
Let’s get started.
Ok, if he is walking toward you and you’re within 3 steps of each other, slightly angle the front of your body toward him and look at his eyes. If his eyes meet yours hold the contact for 2 seconds then smile at him when you are one step away from passing him. This all has to be executed in a very subtle manner. You never want to exaggerate any of these tips because you can easily be giving the wrong signals with an aggressive walking posture or a stare that goes from interested to creepy.
If he walks by without noticing your eye contact keep trying the technique each time you see him until he does notice your glance.
Now, once he notices your first glance repeat the technique again the next time you walk by him. You may be surprised to see that he is actually looking for your glance this time.
On the third time you walk by him, raise your hand slightly to give a small wave hello. If he waves back that is a great sign! Each time you walk by each other be sure to smile and say, “Hi.” From here, it will be much easier to talk with him when you see him around school. If he’s sitting with some friends and you know one of them go over to your friend and join the group. With a close setting like this, you’re bound to end up talking with him. Have something in mind to talk about. Like, maybe, a movie you can’t wait to see.
This instruction isn’t meant to guarantee results it’s just a subtle way to get to know someone without the risk of embarrassment.
Analyze your results. Did he look for you? Did he smile or wave back? This technique of getting to know someone new is a mild way to get what you want. If he sees your eye contact and avoids you or intentionally doesn’t look your way, move on. Not everyone is going to be interested in getting to know you better. And that’s ok. There are a lot of guys out there and now you’ll have some tools to use when you want to meet someone new.
It seems as though many teenagers assume that dating and having a romantic relationship are the same. They’re actually very different because of the intensity required for each. Dating is an engagement to go out socially with another person. When you choose to date, you are not looking for a long-term commitment. You simply want to enjoy having fun with lots of different people.
On the other hand, having a relationship means being committed to the same person for a period of time. Few teenage relationships have the potential to last a lifetime simply because teenagers are young and inexperienced in adapting to other individuals’ emotional needs.
Since teenagers mature at different rates, one option may fit better than the other. Some teenagers may choose to neither date nor commit to a relationship. Keep in mind that, while dating and having relationships can be fun, they certainly aren’t the most important social aspects of middle and high school. Basic friendships are the most important. Just remember to relax and have fun!
Worst Ways to Break Up with Someone
- Say, “I just want to be friends.”
- Use instant messenger, email or text
- Write “dumped” and stick it on his or her forehead.
- As a close friend to do it for you.
- Get your mom or dad to do it (Seriously? You should be embarrassed for even thinking about it).
- Engage in a serious conversation and ask, “What’s your worst nightmare?” Then say, “Oh, really? Mine’s being with you for even a minute longer.”
- Put “I want to break up with you” on the scoreboard at halftime of your school sporting event.
- Plan a romantic picnic complete with a cake that says, “It’s over.” Meet at your planned meeting spot, hand the picnic basket and blanket to him or her, and say, “Have fun!” Leave immediately.
- March up to him or her and say, “Dating you is like taking an arrow to the knee!”
- Text saying, “It’s over. I’ve fallen in love with your best friend.”
Teen Relationships. The Good…Bad…and the Ugly!
There are many good outcomes of having a relationship. Dating allows you to learn about the type of person you enjoy spending time with. A significant other is someone who you can count on and have fun with. Also, knowing that someone cares for you and will always support you is a comforting feeling. A boyfriend or girlfriend can easily turn a bad day around. It’s great to have somebody to whom you can express your thoughts and feelings.
The majority of teen students may not have a serious girlfriend or boyfriend. In fact, some students choose not to date in high school because there are more benefits that come with being a single, independent teenager. Because of the time a serious relationship consumes, it can be hard to take advantage of your school’s special opportunities. Extracurricular activities like clubs, sports, and fine arts are a great way to spend time productively and make friends.
Teen couples break up every day. Although there are exceptions, most teen relationships only last about a month. A break up with someone that you feel strongly about can make you feel as though your heart has been ripped out and stomped on. At the moment, breaking up feels sad and horrible, but it also brings forth new possibilities.
Keep in mind that breaking up isn’t just an ending but also a new beginning. Remember the possibility of new relationships and adventures with new friends that your old boyfriend or girlfriend may not have gotten along with. After your past relationship, you may find a new one that is more suitable to you in the long run. If and when someone breaks up with you, be optimistic about it. Bounce back from it. Get out and do something. Go see a funny movie. You may have felt like you were in love, but for most teens, love doesn’t last.
